Thank you for your continued support and trust in Gname. To provide you with an even better user experience, we have launched a new MF (Mail Forwarding) resolution feature under the domain name resolution service!
MF (Mail Forward):
This feature enables email forwarding, allowing you to forward emails to a designated email address or URL link. MF resolution supports flexible and efficient email management (email forwarding is purely for forwarding purposes and will not expose your email content).
(一）Forwarding to an Email Address:
Within Gname's Control Panel, for the domain that needs email forwarding, set up an MF record (Note: this feature is only supported when using Gname’s default DNS).
1、Single Email Forwarding (e.g., admin@domain.com -> email@domain.com):
Enter admin@ as the host record, and set the record value as the target email address.
2、Wildcard Email Forwarding:
(Forward all sub-emails like 1@domain.com or 2@domain.com to a target email address)
Set the host record as *@ and the record value as the target email address.
3、Multi-Level Sub-Email Forwarding:
For multi-level sub-emails, the host record must fully specify the hierarchy (e.g., *.abc@ or *.abc.abc@), and the record value should be the target email address.
(二) Forwarding to a URL Address:
Within Gname’s Control Panel, for the domain needing email forwarding, set up an MF record (Note: this feature is only supported when using Gname’s default DNS).
1、When an email is received at, for example, admin@domain.com, the DNS system will attach the corresponding parameters and send a POST request to the URL address you have configured.
2、The wildcard and multi-level sub-email forwarding rules are the same as those for forwarding to an email address.
(三) Conflict Handling Between MF and MX Records:
Using @ as the separator:
1、If there are characters after @, the system uses those characters to determine potential conflicts.
2、If there are no characters after @, the system uses @ itself to determine potential conflicts.
3、If an MX record with the same host record already exists, an MF record cannot be added due to conflict.
